Professor Jun ZHAO graduated from Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University in 1998 and worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Computer Science Department, Hong Kong University of science and technology from 1998 to 2002. He joined the National Laboratory of Pattern Recognition, Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2002. At present, he is a professor-level researcher and doctoral supervisor of Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a professor of School of Artificial Intelligence, the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Professor Jun ZHAO’s research interests include natural language processing, information extraction and knowledge engineering. He has undertaken several national scientific research projects. He has published two textbooks, “Knowledge Graph” and “Knowledge Graph: Algorithm and Practice”; and has published more than 80 papers (CCF A and B) which has been cited more than 14000 times in Google Scholar, and among them, the highest citation of a single article has exceeded 2100 times. He won some important prizes, such as the Best Paper Award of COLING-2014 at the 25th International Conference on Computational Linguistics, the First-class Prize of Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award (2019), and the First-class Prize of Qian Weichang Chinese Information Processing Science and Technology Award, Chinese Information Society of China (2018), etc.

As a professor of the School of Artificial Intelligence, the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, he is the leading lecturer of the course of Knowledge Graph, which was awarded the university level excellent course of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2021. He has supervised more than 60 doctoral and master's students. Among them, two won the National Excellent Youth Fund, two was selected as Beijing Zhiyuan Young Scientists, two was selected into the Youth Talent Promotion Project of China Association for Science and Technology, three was selected into the Youth Promotion Association of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and two won national scholarships. Professor Jun ZHAO was awarded the “Zhu Li Yuehua Excellent Teacher Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences” in 2020.
