Framework
of Speech Translation
Speech and language
technology is one of research directions in the National
Laboratory of Pattern Recognition (NLPR). Now the research group
of speech and language technology focuses on the fundamental
problems and key techniques in the area of human language
technology, and tries to make great contributions on the
theoretical modeling, application system developing, and large
scale corpus base building. The major activities include the
following aspects: (1) Machine translation; (2) Information
retrieval and extraction; (3) Text
mining; (4) Speech recognition;
(5) Speech synthesis;
(6)
Computational auditory scene analysis;
(7) Affective computing; and (8) Multimedia integration.
Currently, there are 5 faculty members, 23
Ph.D. candidates, and 14 postgraduates working with the speech
and language technology. Now we are taking charge of six
projects supported by NSF, four projects supported by the
National High-Technology (863) Program of China, one sub-task of
973 project, one project supported by Beijing NSF, one project
supported by the National Key Technology R&D Program, and some
projects in international cooperation as well.
